As a member of the Scheme, you have the opportunity to join our Trustee Board and help run your Scheme.
The Trustee Board is made up of Company (Nuclear Restoration Services) Nominated Directors, one of whom is Chair, and the others being Member Representative Directors, who are either active or pensioner Members of the Scheme. Deferred members, dependants and children are not eligible to apply.
Below, you'll find more information on what it means to be a Trustee, along with details of any current vacancies, the selection process and timescales. If you are interested in joining us, please continue to read and apply.
If you have any questions regarding the role or application process please email group.pensions@nrservices.uk.
We are currently looking for three enthusiastic Member Representative Trustees:
Successful members will start shadowing the Trustee Board and their respective Sub-Committee, if applicable, from Autumn/Winter 2025, and from 1st January 2026 you will officially be appointed, and your 6-year term will start.
In the shadowing period, you will join meetings and be part of the conversations, but you will not have to vote or make decisions. This is to help you ease into your new role and build your knowledge and understanding. During this time, you will need to complete the Pensions Regulator’s Trustee Toolkit – an eLearning course that takes you through online tutorials about what it is like to be a trustee: www.trusteetoolkit.com.
To apply for any of the current vacancies listed above, you must first complete the Application Form below by 15th August 2025.
We have appointed a panel to help us choose our new Member Trustees. This panel is made up of the Chair of the Trustee Board, a current Member Representative Trustee, and a trade union representative.
The panel will review all application forms and shortlist candidates to meet with them. If shortlisted, you will meet with the panel in September/October 2025.
Once all shortlisted candidates have met with the panel, a decision will be made by the panel. This decision will then be ratified by the Trustee Board and be final. We’ll let you know shortly after meeting all the candidates whether or not you have been successful.
Being a Trustee means being part of a team that is working together in the interest of all the Scheme beneficiaries. It’s a great opportunity to get insight into how your Scheme works, to learn from specialist advisers, and ultimately to make a difference to Scheme members and their families.
The pensions landscape is ever developing and this brings with it opportunities and challenges. As a Trustee you will ensure your Scheme is effectively administered, remains well funded and that the investment strategy (that you will help define) is implemented to support us being able to meet all the expected benefits payable.
In exchange for your time, you will gain experience of being a board member and making strategic decisions in a regulated environment which are valuable transferable skills.
You will receive plenty of support from your fellow Trustees and from our specialist advisers, as well as training when you join and throughout your term.
What qualities make a good Trustee?
A good Trustee is:
What is needed from you?
All Trustees are appointed for a 6-year term with a review after 3 years, so you will need to have enough time to commit to the role.
During this period, you will be expected to attend four annual Trustee Board meetings and if you are also joining one of the Sub-Committees there will be an additional four meetings per year.
We work flexibly and meetings are a mixture between online, face to face and hybrid.
